A magnificent City of London Crest centred by a golden helmet, flanked by two dragons supporting the de-bossed George Cross shield. With foliate surrounded ribbon carrying the motto of the city, 'DOMINE DIRGE NOS' meaning 'Lord, direct (guide) us'.
The coat of arms is anciently recorded at the College of Arms. and was in use from 1381, forming part of the design of a new mayoral seal brought into use on 17 April of that year.
