A fine, large, early English soda syphon of double gourd form surmounted by a pewter cap and tap and applied with a metal wire mesh net to the body, stamped 'British Syphon Company London'. Circa 1890.
Widely known as a Seltzogenes or Gazogenes. The bottom sphere would have contained the water and the top housed a mixture of bicarbonate of soda and tartaric acid.
